About
Random Otter Technologies is an engineering studio in Des Moines, Iowa. We take on a handful of projects at a time so the people you meet are the people who build them.

Leads the machine learning work: model selection and training, evaluation, and the retrieval and agent systems built on language models.

Leads product and infrastructure: application architecture, cloud environments, and the release process that gets work in front of your users.
Three things we do not trade away for a bigger pipeline.
A bigger shop would take more work and route it through people who were not on your first call. We keep the list short so the engineer who scoped your project is the one writing it, and so we can turn down work that is not a fit.
Every engagement starts with a written scope: what gets built, what it costs, and when. If the work is genuinely uncertain we say so and price a smaller first piece.
Code in your repositories, infrastructure in your accounts, documentation written for whoever comes next. Leaving is never a technical problem.
Startups through mid-size companies, mostly in the Midwest.
Some clients have never shipped software and need someone to own the whole thing. Others already have a team and need one piece of machine learning work done well. Both start with a call where you explain the problem and we tell you whether we are the right fit.
Send one email describing the problem. You will hear back from an engineer, usually the same day.
